$2.5-million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to train future nursing faculty members. The grant is part of the foundation’s $22-million, five-year “New Jersey Nursing Initiative,” which will increase the number of nursing faculty available to educate the next generation of nurses in the state. The RWJF grant is the largest foundation grant ever made to Fairleigh Dickinson University. An additional grant of $100,000 from the foundation supports nursing scholarships. $200,000 from The William Randolph Hearst Foundation will allow the University to upgrade its nursing laboratories and classrooms, providing state-of-the-art equipment and educational technology for FDU’s nursing students.
$25,000 from BD for fellowships in the doctor of nursing program (for which BD previously provided a $250,000 seed grant) and toward the enhancement of nursing laboratories and classrooms.
$1-million gift from Vincent J. Naimoli, MBA’64 (T), chairman emeritus of the Tampa Bay Rays Major League Baseball team, University trustee and member of the FDU NOW Campaign Steering Committee, to create a 500-seat baseball complex on the Metropolitan Campus. The Naimoli Family Baseball Complex will include an artificial surface and auxiliary facilities.
Two $25,000 grants from PSEG to fund scholarships for students in FDU’s Puerta al Futuro (Gateway to the Future) program, which allows Spanish speakers with limited English skills to earn associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees while gaining fluency in English.
$50,000 from Anthony, BS’70, MBA’74 (T), and Melanie Vespa, MBA’82 (T), for The Vespa Family Scholarship, which supports FDU students pursuing a degree in the Silberman College of Business.
$100,000 Veterans Award Grant from the American Council on Education (ACE) and The Walmart Foundation, one of 20 such grants given to institutions that “operate model programs advancing access and success in higher education for veterans and their families.”
$100,000 from Marshall Bartlett, Silberman College of Business professor and member of the FDU NOW Campaign Steering Committee. Bartlett’s gift supports Silberman College.
